One-on-one consulting

We are pleased to offer on-site, video or phone consultations with an initial consultation and subsequent follow-up consultations. As Medical Nutrition Therapists, we provide outstanding support each step of the way while you are working to achieve your chosen long-term goals.

One-on-one services are the best option for those who have illnesses such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), diabetes, strict dietary allergies, arthritis and other chronic illnesses that require more time and care.

After-all, while the research on the link between lifestyle and chronic disease is well-documented and strongly supported, each of us have our own unique lifestyle and needs and there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Individualized meal planning

Meal plans can be used as a tool to success as sometimes a little bit of extra help is required when making lifestyle changes, meeting goals or sticking to a therapeutic diet. Although they rarely offer long-term benefits (in our opinion), they can be used to create routine, habit and confidence around choosing meal ideas, grocery shopping and preparing meals.

If you are interested in a meal plan to help you move through a program, we will create a plan tailored to your needs. Options include a 3-day, 1-week or 2-week plan.

'Restoring Metabolic Health' Program

Are you feeling sluggish and fatigued? Unable to lose weight? Uncomfortable in your own body? Are you constipated? Is your sleep suffering? Are stress levels out of control? All of these concerns are linked to poor metabolic health. Although 'metabolism' is quite the buzz word these days, what does it mean? How can you 'restore' your metabolism?

Metabolism essentially makes up 1000’s of chemical processes that turn the food we eat into nutrients and compounds required for optimal physiological functioning at the cellular level. In fact, if there are imbalances anywhere in metabolism, our cells and organs suffer and we tend to feel it in some way – whether that be through bloating, low energy, joint pain, etc. Furthermore, these chronic imbalances are linked to the onset of chronic illnesses including Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease.

By focusing on each area of metabolism in this 3-5 step program, your health and wellness can improve drastically. In this program, clients have noted that they understand their body’s needs better, that they have a stronger understanding of how to navigate dietary intake and that they feel confident in a long-term implementation of a lifestyle that promotes a healthy metabolism and long-term health and longevity.

What’s included in the program?

  • 3-5 one-on-one consultations with one of our Medical Nutrition Therapists
  • Useful resources, sample meals, sample days & recipes
  • Email access to the team at all times with fast replies to questions or concerns

Metabolic diseases include:

  • Heart Disease
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Fatty Liver Disease
  • PCOS
  • Alzheimer’s Disease

Healing IBS and IBS-Like Symptoms

IBS is a tricky subject and more often than not, it's used as a 'diagnosis of elimination' in that there does not appear to be any structural concerns regarding your symptoms of bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea, stomach pain, cramping, etc. However, there are many underlying causes and triggers to the onset of IBS symptoms and we can help you treat these incredibly daunting symptoms. In fact, IBS is treatable in most cases and at the least, it is highly manageable.

This program is designed for those who have been living with symptoms of IBS, diagnosed or not. Broken down into 3 steps, we work to heal the underlying issues so you can confidently implement a well-balanced and nutrient-rich diet without concerns around whether or not you should stay home from work due to severe digestive symptoms or without worrying if there is a bathroom nearby when you are dining out, etc. Essentially, this program can lead to a vast improvement in your quality of life.

Managing Your Autoimmune Disease

Autoimmune diseases are the most challenging diseases to face because there are no real and true solutions or a one-size-fits all approach. In fact, in many cases the goal of treating an autoimmune disease may be to halt progression or to reduce symptoms so you can live a higher quality of life. In some cases, the goal may be to use nutrition and lifestyle to remain in a state of remission.

There are 100’s if not more documented papers on the fact that dietary wellness and lifestyle play pinnacle and instrumental roles in the onset, severity and progression of autoimmune diseases. As each individual who is living with autoimmunity or an overt autoimmune disease has individual needs and goals, this program is highly specific to the client. However, there is an outline to this program which is followed and each step of the way is backed up by the latest research available on the topic.

For many clients living with an autoimmune disease, any improvement in symptoms is welcome and we work together to continuously improve your quality of life, one step at a time. In this 3-5 step program, we focus on treatment at the root cause of autoimmune disease – epigenetics, dysbiosis (poor gut health), leaky gut (intestinal permeability) and systemic inflammation.

This program may benefit those with the following Autoimmune diseases:

  • IBD – Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Hashimoto’s and Grave’s
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Type 1 Diabetes
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Healing GERD From The Root Cause

1 in every 4-5 North Americans suffers from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and this disease can be debilitating and can severely affect one’s quality of life. Although acid inhibitors and Proton Pump Inhibitor’s (PPI’s) are often prescribed, these medications don’t treat the issue at the root cause and they come with a lot of side effects such as dysbiosis, nutrient malabsorption and an increased risk of low bone mass density.

As they don’t actually treat GERD, many people are on PPI’s for a very long time and continue to see symptoms if they choose to wean off the medication.

This 3 step program actually treats GERD at the root cause by removing triggers, strengthening the esophageal sphincter, healing damage done to the upper GI tract and improving digestion so that GERD is less likely to occur in the first place. As overweight and obesity are also part of the root causes of GERD, focusing on an overall healthy dietary intake and weight loss/maintenance may be required.
